Meet Daniel Gayden

Daniel Gayden is a Chicago-based singer-songwriter and drummer, holds a Bachelor of Music from Western Michigan University. With 15 years of drumming experience, Daniel began his musical journey at the age of 10. His life's mission is to spread love and humanity through music, which is reflected in his teaching philosophy. Daniel creates a positive and engaging learning environment, believing that students should learn music that feeds their energy and spirit. He emphasizes that music education should be an outlet for personal expression and a significant part of students' lives.


Throughout his musical career, Daniel has played a variety of instruments, including drums, guitar, keyboard, bass, and voice. He is currently performing in his own band and has participated in numerous musical ensembles and performance groups. His musical style is heavily influenced by jazz and alternative R&B.

Daniel's teaching methods focus on understanding each student's unique interests and goals, taking a methodical and paced approach to learning. His teaching motto, "You play music how you live life," underscores his holistic view of music education. He teaches a range of genres, including jazz, pop, rock, and R&B, and encourages students to bring their instrument, notebook, and pencil to lessons.


At Melody Mart, Daniel fosters a safe and supportive environment where students can feel wanted and inspired. He takes joy in seeing his students pursue music beyond their lessons, whether at school or in their personal concerts. Daniel's favorite authors include James Baldwin and Bell Hooks, reflecting his deep appreciation for profound and thought-provoking literature.
